Overview: The Prison Ministry Visitation Volunteer assists First Presbyterian Evanston in accomplishing its mission: To know Christ and to grow in him as we serve and make disciples in Evanston, the Chicago area, and the world. The person in this position assists with overseeing children as they go to prisons to visit a parent.
Responsibilities:
- Children have been escorted on a bus to see a parent in prison every other month or once a quarter.
- The children have been properly supervised and kept safe.
- Upon arrival at the prison, children have been assisted as needed.
- The children have returned on the bus safely after the visit.
Relationships, Team Composition:
The Prison Ministry Visitation Volunteer reports to the Prison Ministry Visitation Leader and is part of a 36-person prison ministry visitation team.
Time Commitment: 5-10 Hours per Visit (depending on which prison is being visited)
Special Talents, Skills Preferred: Love for children, patience, ability to communicate with children, reliable, heart for service.
Resources, Training Provided: Orientation from the leader, accompaniment with experienced volunteers. Background check required.
