Overview: The Mission Prayer Volunteer assists First Presbyterian Evanston in accomplishing its mission: To know Christ and to grow in him as we serve and make disciples in Evanston, the Chicago area, and the world. The person in this position ensures that mission partners are prayed for consistently.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Mission partners have been prayed for daily from home.
  • Prayer meetings have been attended the third Wednesday of each month by Zoom or in person.
  • Mission partners have been lifted up in guided corporate prayer at the third Wednesday prayer meeting.

 

Relationships, Team Composition:

The Mission Prayer Volunteer reports to the Mission Prayer Leader and is part of a 20-person prayer team.

Time Commitment: 2-3 Hours per Month

  • Includes communal prayer meeting and individual prayers at home.

Special Talents, Skills Preferred: Concern for mission partners, their families and ministries, desire to listen for what God is doing in the world, comfort praying and/or desire to learn to pray thoughtfully for what God is doing through these partners.

 

Resources, Training Provided: Prayer sheets provided each month, instruction from leader for corporate prayer times, prayer guides for individual prayers, council available from leader as needed.
