Through curiosity and imagination, Pastor Tassie will delve into the Advent Scripture passages with our whole selves. We will dig into the Advent Scriptures together, using the beautiful art of the Advent sermon series devotional "What Do You Fear?" We will discover how the spiritual practices of lectio and visio divina can bring freshness to our Christmas.
Join us as we begin the Advent season together! Our message, “King Herod and an Era of Fear,” will draw us into the story of hope that starts in Luke’s Gospel. We’ll also light the first Advent candle. Bring your family and friends as we prepare our hearts for Christmas and celebrate the start of this beautiful season.
After the worship service, we invite you to stay and enjoy a time of fellowship during our Connections Fellowship Hour. Hosted by the Deacons, this gathering offers a relaxed and welcoming space to connect with others over a variety of refreshments.
When school lets out early, the fun continues at church! Half Day Hooray is a welcoming, faith-based afterschool program designed for elementary-aged kids on Evanston School District half days. It’s a safe and engaging space where children can spend the afternoon connecting with friends, participating in meaningful activities, and enjoying a positive environment rooted in Christian values.
Join our Friday Prep Team in the Kitchen and Dining Room as we get ready for Souper Saturday! Volunteers help prepare hearty, home-cooked meals that will be served the next day. Whether you're chopping veggies, mixing ingredients, or sharing stories, it's a time of joyful service and fellowship.
Men’s Breakfast is a group that gathers simultaneously in-person in Room 213 and on Zoom to socialize, pray and study scripture. Those attending in-person enjoy a breakfast of coffee, tea, donuts and bananas. Contact Bob Bastian at moc.liamg@nem.notsnave.serp.tsrif for more information or to request Zoom link.
On the first Saturday of each month, women are invited to gather at First Presbyterian Church for the First Friends Breakfast Gathering—a warm, welcoming space to connect, grow, and be refreshed.
Whether you're a seasoned knitter or just curious about learning, you're warmly invited to join the First Pres Knitting Ministry, lovingly known as Eat, Knit, Laugh, Pray.
