Overview: The Memorial Reception Volunteer assists First Presbyterian Evanston in accomplishing its mission: To know Christ and to grow in him as we serve and make disciples in Evanston, the Chicago area, and the world. The person in this position comes alongside members and friends of FPCE by helping at a reception in the FPCE dining room for the family and friends of the deceased following a memorial or funeral service.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare trays of fruit, cookies, etc. for guests in advance of the reception and replenish them as needed during the reception.
  • Prepare coffee, tea and/or lemonade.
  • Serve beverages to guests during reception.

Relationships, Team Composition:

The Memorial Reception Volunteer reports to Barbara Holm representing Pastoral Care leaders and is part of a team of 6 volunteers.

Time Commitment: 3-4 hours.

Special Talents, Skills Preferred: Empathy, organization, hospitality, desire to serve.

Resources, Training Provided: Guidance from leadership and more experienced Memorial Reception volunteers.
