On Sunday, May 5, 2024, First Presbyterian Church of Evanston will host an important panel discussion on the role religion can, will, and should play in ending the fighting in Gaza and bringing peace to the Middle East.
Bright Stars of Bethlehem, a long-time partner with First Pres, is producing this compelling interfaith discussion featuring a panel of visionary world changers.
The panelists are:
- Rev. Dr. Mitri Raheb, founder of Dar al-Kalima University in Bethlehem
- Rabbi Brant Rosen, founding rabbi of Tzedek Chicago
- Dr. Iva Carruthers, general secretary of Samuel DeWitt Proctor Conference
- Dr. Rami Nashashibi, founder and executive director of Inner-City Muslim Action Network
Each panelist brings their own unique religious and political perspectives to the table. Bright Stars of Bethlehem will feature hopeful stories of how Dar al-Kalima University is empowering the next generation of creative leaders in Palestine, in the midst of warfare and the infliction of catastrophic human suffering on innumerable noncombatants.
The event is open to the public and will be moderated by Linda Edens, vice chair of the Bright Stars of Bethlehem board of directors. It takes place in the First Pres sanctuary, located at 1427 Chicago Avenue, Evanston, IL, 60201. All attendees must register for FREE tickets before the event at https://firstpresevanston.org/gazapanel. No tickets will be available at the door.
