Doug and Shelia Wilson serve with a non-denominational church planting ministry that was founded in 1892. Formerly known as Gospel Missionary Union, Avant Ministries is one of the oldest missionary sending agencies in the United States and Canada. Since its founding Avant Ministries has focused on planting and developing the church in the unreached areas of the world through church planting, church support ministries, media, education, camp and business. We hope to establish mature, nationally-led churches among the unreached that desire to plant more churches, first in their own city, and then all over the world. Avant currently has about 500 missionaries primarily from the US and Canada serving in 50 countries globally. As a mission agency we define “unreached” as places where less than two percent of the population is evangelical Christian.
