First Presbyterian Church of Evanston, IL., is excited to announce two new staffing decisions to help with member services and outside event coordination.

Deborah McDowell, who currently works as front desk receptionist, will take on the additional role of administration and membership assistant. Her new duties will include maintaining the church membership and attendance database, providing pastoral, mission, and church leadership administrative support, and other tasks as needed.

Hillary Wallgren has been named as the First Pres events manager, which will be a contractual position with part-time hours. Hillary has extensive professional experience in event planning and programming coordination. This new role will involve direct contact with those seeking to rent FPCE facilities for non-church related activities, such as weddings, recitals, concerts, and presentations. Hillary is married to First Pres Facilities Director Andy Wallgren.

In announcing these new positions, FPCE Interim Senior Pastor Tassie Green also noted that office hours at the church will shift from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Fridays to 9 a.m. to Noon.

“These additions and changes reflect a commitment on the part of First Pres to seek out new revenue sources while make adjustments elsewhere to contain costs,” Green said.

Both of these changes are effective as of Wednesday, May 22, 2024.
