Rev. Henry Coates

Henry Coates was called to the position of Designated Associate Pastor at First Presbyterian in early 2017 and named Associate Pastor for Discipleship and Stewardship in August 2019.

Henry was born and raised in the great state of New Jersey, went to college (Drew University, 2007) and pursued his seminary education (Princeton Theological Seminary, 2012) there as well. He earned a Masters of Theology in 2014 from Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary.  He has been blessed to live and work and study in a wide variety of places, from New Orleans to London, Berlin to Nairobi, Cambridge, Massachusetts to Coonoor, India.

He’s worked a variety of jobs, from Pizza Delivery guy to Instructor of Preaching, Construction Worker to Historical Archivist, Photographer to IT Specialist, but his true calling has always been towards ministry.

His passions include international development work, strategic studies, theology, mission, preaching, teaching, disciple making, weightlifting, reading, boardgaming, drinking fine craft beer and singing.
