Overview: The Prayer Volunteer assists First Presbyterian Evanston in accomplishing its mission: To know Christ and to grow in him as we serve and make disciples in Evanston, the Chicago area, and the world. The person in this position ensures that members and friends of FPCE are covered in regular and faithful prayer.  

Responsibilities:

  • Regularly review the weekly Pastoral Prayer Concerns email and updates. 
  • Pray for requests from the email each day for approximately 15 minutes total. (Pray 3 times per day for 5 minutes, or 5 times per day for 3 minutes, or one time for 15 minutes.)
  • Lift up each request individually or pray for a few at a time as led by the Holy Spirit. 

Relationships, Team Composition:

The Prayer Volunteer reports to the Prayer Chain Coordinator and is part of a team of 50 prayer volunteers. 

Time Commitment: 1.5 Hours per Week

Special Talents, Skills Preferred: Faith, compassion, empathy, love, desire to pray.   

Resources, Training Provided: Weekly email from Prayer Chain Coordinator with prayer concerns and requests.
