First Presbyterian Missions
Our vision is to empower and equip every member of FPCE to be Christ’s witnesses locally and globally. We do this by engaging with our partners; focusing on relational and cross-cultural outreach ministries in areas of disparities with vulnerable people groups (locally and internationally); focusing our funds on those serving in full time ministry, mainly in unreached areas; and providing education that is relevant and equipping in nature.
MISSION PRAYER

August 4th 2025
for Tumekutana African Presbyterian Reformed Women Leaders.
Tumekutana which means “We have come together” in Swahili, was founded with the help of First Presbyterian Church of Evanston, to establish a fellowship of Presbyterian and Reformed women leaders across Africa. Starting with 16 countries, it has grown to include 22 countries throughout Sub-Saharan Africa.
Prayers
- Lord, we thank you for the faithful witness of Tumekutana and for the sisterhood they have built across Africa and the world.
- We praise you for the ways they stand in the gap for women, families, and communities bringing hope, leadership, and the gospel to many.
- Father, we lift to you the burdens of our world: climate change, political unrest, violence, and the suffering of those in war zones such as Sudan, Somalia, Nigeria, and D.R. Congo.. Protect those in danger, comfort the grieving, and bring your peace. Especially the women as they struggle to feed and protect their children in these troubled areas.
- We also thank you for the moments of joy, new births, healing, milestones achieved, and the ways we see your hand at work.
- Lord, as we join our prayers with The Tumekutana women throughout Africa, guide our hearts to know who and what to pray for each day.
- We ask your special blessing on the upcoming 2025 virtual Tumekutana gathering on September 11.
- Bless the keynote speaker, Rt. Rev. Lydia Neshangwe.
- Prepare the hearts of every attendee.
- Provide all resources needed for this time of fellowship and renewal.
- Make it easy for every participant to connect via Zoom without technical issues.
- Let the meeting run smoothly, without interruptions, so the focus remains on fellowship, learning, and worship.
- May the theme “See, God is doing something new” from Isaiah 43:19 inspire fresh vision, unity, and courage among these women leaders.
- Strengthen the Tumekutana leadership team — Bridget, Doris, Veronica, Jessie, and all who serve — with wisdom, endurance, and joy in the work you’ve called them to do.Keep their network strong, prayerful, and empowered to be instruments of peace and transformation in their communities.
In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
