Rebuilding Together North Suburban Chicago
Sharon Riley, Executive Director
Rebuilding Together North Suburban Chicago provides free home renovations to homeowners having low-incomes in 14 communities in North Suburban Chicago.
Rebuilding Together North Suburban Chicago also serves not-for-profit organizations that serve those with developmental disabilities, those who are homeless and at-risk youth.
Rebuilding Together North Suburban Chicago provides skilled repairs year-round, and in addition, work on National Rebuilding Day, the last Saturday in April, with skilled/unskilled volunteer teams. In April 2019, about 25 FPCE volunteers transformed the home of an Evanston homeowner in need with various repairs, interior and exterior painting and organizing.
I think our biggest concerns are that our dear homeowners stay safe and well, that God guides us in our work. We are confronting some difficult situations. We long to work on a few pressing interior repairs critical to residents’ health and safety.
But the homeowners or a family member are medically fragile, which makes entering their homes to perform the repairs challenging and possibly risky. Making these types of decisions is difficult. But prayer works wonders as we try to trust in the Lord. (Prov. 3:5-6)
